The difference is the frame size and sheave wheel diameter. This sheave was designed primarily for 5/16 inch wireline cable, which requires a larger sheave wheel because of the generally larger strands used by cable manufacturers when manufacturing a 5/16 inch diameter cable as compared to other popular cable sizes. Some customers run this 18 inch sheave as a top sheave with a 5/16 inch groove, and a 14 inch Sabtex Sheave as a bottom sheave since the cable does not make a 180 degree bend under a bottom sheave, and our 14" sheave weighs less and is easier to handle. Both sheaves are high quality products, and manufactured in our facility. We keep parts in stock, and offer repair and certification services with full documentation. A copy of your certifications are kept in our files in the event that your original copy needs to be replaced.
